Volunteering And Working While In College Essay

Scholarship: Character

It has been a very rewarding challenge to strive to balancing my academics, work, volunteer activities, and family commitments as I pursue my academic goals. As a full-time student, I dedicate myself to my studies, because I understand and believe that education is what will enable me to achieve, ultimately, my future aspirations. Higher education certainly makes many demands of ones time, but I manage to maintain a high level of performance, and I attribute my success to a disciplined time management system.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I work 40 hours a week as a technician. This job has helped me develop valuable technical skills and work experience as well as a work ethic and a sense of the importance of personal responsibility and integrity. Managing a full-time job while pursuing a full-time education is not easybut it has taught me how to prioritize and maximize my time and opportunities.

Volunteerism also holds a special place in my heart, particularly because of my work as a soccer coach every Sunday. Coaching soccer gives me a chance to give back to the community that I love. I get to coach kids in physical activity, teach them teamwork and sportsmanship. It is fulfilling to see the positive impact on them.

My commitments are to my family as well, where I balance family commitments alongside my other responsibilities. Every family has its own unique demands, and mine is no different. But I find that the more you give, the stronger you become. Thus, thanks to all my academic, professional, volunteer, and familial commitments, I believe I have developed a character marked by dedication and a love of community. Every aspect of my life complements the others, and adds to my desire to grow and help others, too.
